How much $ to develop Inventory Control Software?
I plan to develop Inventory control system for my warehouse with possibility to manage quantity, customers, orders and I want this software to work with eBay and Amazon in real time (submit new listings and manage quantity) and web-store (must be developed) to work with this software. It should check for new orders and download them into the system. Import-export orders, customers and products into excel/csv.
My question- how much it might cost and how long does it take to develop?
I KNOW IT DEPENDS FROM MANY FACTORS.
I want to know approximate range. I think people who estimate software development might know the answer.
Can it be done for 5k? 10k? 20k? 100k?
I don’t need ready solutions or open source. I want this system to be developed from scratch.
Technology:
.Net / C# / SQL
Software must be Server and Clients based.
Please share if you experienced in software development and project costs.
Sounds like a very big application. For an external company to create this software for you from scratch you would be looking at 100k+.

–Multiple import/export options
–I’m guessing you will want reporting
–Redundancy for failure recovery (i.e server crash), depends on if you are having the application hosted or you have the servers in your office.
–Plus other requirements not listed (I’m sure you haven’t included everything you want in this short listing)
Time frame would be 6 months or more for development and testing.
But as you said it really depends on many factors, so it is difficult to guess how much and how long it would take. While my estimate is for an enterprise type application, if all you are looking for is a smaller desktop application then the price would be much less (20k-30k range).

Sorry, I’m not savvy enough to imagine what it would cost to develop this. But I have a suggestion that you hire someone on a permanent basis. He / she will need to be experienced with HTML, CSS, SQL, and either ASP.net or PHP and Javascript. He / she will want to be very good at C or at the very least Visual Basic and VB script.
Now I can tell you that a single person with all these skills will want to be paid at least 60K per year, and probably more like 80K. But you’ll need him because after the software is built it will have bugs. Those bugs will need to be dealt with and the whole thing will need to be maintained. You’ll probably end up with a small web and database team, not to mention an IT guy. So you’re looking at a large, ongoing expense.
